Speak Up

Speak Up

To support a culture of openness and accountability we provide a channel for employees to voice concerns about anything they find unsafe, unethical, or unlawful. These mechanisms must be accessible, independent of line management, and must enable employees to voice concerns in a responsible, appropriate, and effective manner without fear of criticism or retaliation.

Playtech offers an independent, Speak Up hotline to enable employees to raise concerns confidentially and anonymously. You can find detailed information about our Speak Up policy and Advice Line at Convercent.

Case Studies

In the fast-paced tech industry, staying updated with the latest trends and technologies is crucial. Playtech recognises the need for continuous learning and skill enhancement to keep colleagues at the forefront of technological advancements. In 2023, the company launched the Playtech Tech Series, featuring webinars delivered by industry experts.

In November 2024, Omer Yoachimik from Cloudflare, delivered a webinar on “Battling Hyper-Volumetric DDoS Attacks: Recent Trends & Defense Strategies”. The session was attended by 177 employees. The Tech Series aims to provide colleagues with up-to-date knowledge and skills, enhancing their technical competence and encourage collaboration. Exposure to new ideas and technologies sparks creativity and innovation, driving the organisation forward. The continuous learning and development fostered by the Tech Series play a significant role in the overall growth and success of the organisation, ensuring that Playtech remains competitive in an ever-evolving industry

Our internal Global Mentorship Program, run by the global People & Culture team, aims to develop a strong pipeline of future leaders. With 14 mentors and 15 mentees participating in 2024 cohort, continuing into 2025, the program addresses key challenges such as knowledge transfer from senior management, targeted skill development for successors, and engagement and retention of high-potential employees. By aligning the development of future leaders with the organisation’s strategic goals, the program ensures sustained growth and success. The impact includes a well-prepared leadership pipeline, effective knowledge transfer, enhanced leadership skills, increased engagement, and strategic alignment.

In January 2024, Playtech Live launched a five-month hackathon program designed to empower learning and development, foster cross-departmental collaboration and enhance operational efficiency. Employees were put into teams each supported by a management mentor. Teams received professional development support through goal setting and project management sessions led by industry experts from SSE Riga and PM Academy.

The hackathon produced several innovative solutions that will be implemented throughout 2025, including an automated reporting system expected to increase processing speed by 70%, a refined table optimisation system that achieved a 6.9% increase in game rounds, and an enhanced shuffler assistant system to reduce table stoppages.

These projects not only demonstrated significant potential for operational improvements and cost savings but also strengthened cross-departmental relationships and uncovered emerging talent within the organisation.

As part of our global people framework, Playtech colleagues were invited to attend webinars covering a wide variety of topics from mental health and wellbeing to diversity and inclusion. In 2023, the Company partnered with external experts to deliver interesting and stimulating content. These are a few examples:

Guest speaker, Emily Pattinson, a Senior Inclusion and Diversity Consultant from Inclusive Employers, addressed a webinar on “Supporting People with Disabilities” and how to help disabled colleagues in the workplace. This involved learning about what types of support a colleague with a disability may need and understanding the terminology as well as the global legal requirements.

SIX MHS also held a session entitled “Let’s Talk Addiction”. Chair Tony Adams MBE introduced the speaker, sports journalist and writer Ian Ridely, who spoke about his own personal journey of addiction recovery.

On World Mental Health Day, Jenny Okolo, also of SIX MHS, took colleagues through an interactive session to improve their knowledge on diversity and inclusion and drive actions that promote and protect everyone’s mental health as a universal human right.

Theo Smith, global neurodiversity advocate, co-author of an award-winning book entitled “Neurodiversity at Work” partnered with SIX MHS to hold an insightful webinar on how people experience, process information, and interact with the world around them in many different ways, and there is no right way of thinking, learning and behaving. Theo spoke about his personal experiences, and why it is more important than ever that we consider the concept of neurodiversity in all facets of our lives.

To mark International Men’s Day and “Movember”, Dave Walsh shared his personal story of overcoming fears and challenges when diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. In a webinar entitled “Overcoming Adversity”, Dave educated Playtech colleagues on how to better understand and support physical and mental wellbeing amongst men.

Colleague feedback on the “Overcoming Adversity “webinar: “One of the most empowering sessions to date. Dave demonstrates the power of positivity.”

As part our Learning and Development strategy, we are embedding diversity and inclusion as a core part of the development programme for current and future leaders and managers.

During the year, the Company continued its second year of its global mentorship programme. This programme matches mentors and mentees, based on individual professional development needs and aspirations. The programme has been designed to complement our performance and talent management strategy, as a long-term form of training, learning and development. In addition to the main objective of supporting professional development, the programme will enable experienced colleagues to pass knowledge on to others, enriching their role as Playtech’s leaders. The programme is designed to run for 12 months, and the programme will close in mid-2024.

“The program provided me with not only personal and professional development but also a better understanding of the company’s structure and operations through the support of various departments.”

We have established a Global Benevolent Fund to provide crucial financial support for colleagues and their immediate families who may encounter unforeseen, severe life-changing challenges such as medical emergencies severe illness, and financial hardship.
